Welcome, Fellow Travelers, to the James Chilton Colony home page. Members of our colony are descendants of the Pilgrims, the first English settlers of New England. These 102 brave men and women sailed to the New World aboard the Mayflower in search of religious freedom. Their legacy to future generations was the Mayflower Compact, a document signed by the adult male passengers on the 11th of November (Old Style) 1620. It provided the first example of a system of government instituted by voluntary agreement of men of equal rights.
The purposes of our society are to perpetuate the memory of our Pilgrim Fathers and Mothers; to maintain the ideals and institutions of American freedom; and to promote the common interests of descendants, such as preserving and marking historical spots made memorable by Pilgrim association.
Thank you for visiting.
